Unauthorized Gaming Server Operator Hit With $88 Million Judgment In DMCA Case
LOS ANGELES – Finding that a video game publisher provided adequate evidence of damages from the operation of a Web server that allowed unauthorized play of its popular “World of Warcraft” (WOW) game, a California federal judge on Aug. 10 awarded the company more than $88 million in disgorgement, statutory damages and attorney fees (Blizzard Entertainment Inc. v. Alyson Reeves, d/b/a Scapegaming, et al., No. 09-7621, C.D. Calif.).
