NEW YORK – Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc. (GPMI), which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, on Jan. 3 filed a brief opposing a motion by the landlord of its petroleum plants, which sought to hold GPMI to its lease obligations despite having filed for bankruptcy (In Re: Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc., No. 11-15606, Chapter 11, S.D. Anadarko to Pay $26 Million to Settle Whistleblower Suit over Royalty Reports for Federal Oil Lease

Anadarko US Offshore has agreed to pay $26 million to settle claims that predecessor company Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas filed false royalty reports for oil it obtained from federally leased property in the Gulf of Mexico. Almost $7 million will go to the former federal employee who blew the whistle on Kerr-McGee.
