Judge: Astor’s Son Can Stay Free While Appealing
Philanthropist Brooke Astor’s 85-year-old son can stay out of prison while he appeals his conviction on charges of looting his mother’s nearly $200 million fortune, an appeals judge ruled Monday. The decision came little more than a week before the ailing Anthony Marshall was due to report to prison for up to three years — a sentence his lawyers had argued could kill him.
