Federal Judge Finds Court Lacks Jurisdiction To Confirm Arbitration Award

NEW YORK – A New York federal judge on Jan. 24 granted a marine logistics service provider’s motion to dismiss a petition to enforce an arbitration award that was issued against it in favor of an Indian vessel owner in a charterparty dispute, finding that the logistics company did not have sufficient contacts to New York to establish jurisdiction (Greatship [India] Limited v. Marine Logistics Solutions [Marsol] LLC, No. 11-420, S.D. N.Y.; 2012 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 8231).
