Attorneys Gear Up, Prepare Clients for Federal Financial Reforms

With the financial reform legislation nearing passage in Congress, corporate lawyers have been scrambling to sort through and analyze the 2,300-page bill, which will have broad implications for their banking and hedge fund clients. Meanwhile, they are preparing to push back against regulations that agencies will put in place to implement the legislation. Said the co-chair of Debevoise & Plimpton’s U.S. financial institutions group, “It’s probably the largest change in the banking laws since the Great Depression.”
